Several months ago I was supposed to debate Israeli ex-historian Benny Morris at the Oxford Union. At the last minute the ex-historian stipulated that he would only participate in the debate if former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was also invited. The Union then approached Mr. Olmert but, according to the Union, Olmert “firmly declined to participate if you [i.e., Norman Finkelstein] were part of the debate. Despite multiple discussions, his position remained unchanged, which subsequently led to Benny Morris withdrawing as well”

Poor Mr. Morris, he’s now the last rat left on the sinking ship. His buddy Olmert just jumped off.
A few days ago I debated the ex-historian on Piers Morgan Uncensored. True to demented form, he was adamant that, except for the occasional rotten apple, Israel only targets Hamas in Gaza (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4jN7IEYNOs&t=2116s). But the next day Olmert weighed in: “What we are doing in Gaza now is a war of devastation: indiscriminate, limitless, cruel and criminal killing of civilians. It’s the result of government policy – knowingly, evilly, maliciously, irresponsibly dictated” (Haaretz, “Enough is Enough: Israel is Committing War Crimes,” 27 May 2025).
The next time we debate at Oxford, I suppose the ex-historian can always lean on Mr. Borrelli VermiNcelli.
